Plastering for New Builds and Extensions in Witney and Oxfordshire
I handle all aspects of plastering for new builds, house extensions and garage conversions across Witney, Oxford and the surrounding Oxfordshire area. Whether you are building a five-bedroom home, adding extra space with an extension or converting a garage into a usable room, I can prepare and plaster the walls and ceilings to a high standard ready for decorating.
Plasterboarding, Insulation and Preparation
For timber framework, I install plasterboard throughout, ensuring all surfaces are straight and properly fixed. Insulation is an important part of modern building work, so I usually recommend using plenty of insulation to help reduce heat loss and lower energy bills.
I often use Celotex insulation, ranging from 100mm in roof spaces, such as a recent project in Carterton, to 50mm insulation as used on jobs in Oxford. Correct insulation makes a noticeable difference to comfort and long-term running costs.
Float and Set or Dot and Dab Methods
Depending on the project, there are several ways to prepare and plaster new walls:
- Float and set using hardwall and multi-finish, which provides a strong, traditional plaster finish. I recently used this method on a new build in Witney.
- Dot and dab with insulated plasterboards, which is particularly effective in garage conversions. This helps control temperature and creates a solid surface before plastering. I have completed many conversions like this in Kidlington, Eynsham and Shipton-under-Wychwood.
Once the base is prepared, I apply 12.5mm standard plasterboard where suitable, followed by a smooth coat of multi-finish plaster throughout.
Extensions, New Builds and Garage Conversions
I regularly work on extensions and new-build properties as well as garage conversions, which continue to be a popular way to gain extra space. Whether you want to create a home office, a playroom or an additional living area, I can plaster the entire space to a clean, professional standard.
